Our Director - Mr. Charles Stark
Charles Stark began his teaching career at Chiddix Junior High School in 1966 before becoming the choral director at Roanoke-Benson High School in Roanoke where he taught grades 3-6 and high school music. He came to Lincoln-Way Community High School in 1969. He retired as Music Department Chairman at Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox in 2002, a position he held from 1997 until his retirement. He served as choral director from 1969-1991 before assuming the duties of Attendance Officer for the District. He has served as the choral chairman for District I, IMEA, and was IMEA Choral Division Vice-President for seven years. He also served on the Music Advisory Committee for the Illinois High School Association and the National Federation of High School Associations. He is a member of the IMEA and the MENC. During his tenure at Lincoln-Way High School he conducted the A Cappella Choir, Treble Choir, Singing Knights, and Mixed Chorus.
Mr. Stark was founder of the Lincoln-Way Madrigal Singers, which has become the longest running annual holiday event in the area. Each of the Lincoln-Way High Schools present their own Madrigal Dinners every December. Three of his former students have gone on to perform on Broadway; Michael Flanigan in Miss Saigon, Sally Murphy in The Grapes of Wrath, the revival of Carousel, and most recently in Fiddler on the Roof, and Jeff Mattsey, winner of the 1985 Philadelphia Opera Pavarotti Contest. Mr. Mattsey appeared in Cosi fan tutti at the Metropolitan Opera in January, 2005, under the direction of Maestro James Levine.
Our Accompanist

Kedra R. Hull, resident of Mokena for over 50 years, has her roots deeply embedded in the performing arts of Lincoln-Way and its community. This 1970 Lincoln-Way Valedictorian first accompanied Mr. Stark her senior year 1969-1970. Kedra states, “An inspiring experience then, and even more memorable now!”
Ms. Hull attended The Chicago Musical College (now known as The School for the Performing Arts), on full scholarship. Kedra moved to Iowa in 1975 where she continued her musical career at the University of Northern Iowa.
Ms. Hull first sang with LWAC in its 2nd season. After her husband’s long fight with Alzheimer’s, Kedra came back to her mentor Chuck Stark to accompany the 1999 Christmas concert. She has kept that bench till this day! Kedra has said “The power of music has given me the outlet and comfort to overcome most of life’s challenges.” Her talent and commitment to LWAC remains a wonderful legacy to the Lincoln-Way musical community!
