Our Mission

It is the purpose of the Lincoln-Way Area Chorale to serve as an outlet to enrich and enhance musical opportunities for adults in the greater Lincoln Way area. We share our love of the vocal medium through practice and performance. We strive for excellence and professionalism in all aspects of our organization and believe in service to the community through the sharing of our talents and resources.

The Lincoln-Way Area Chorale, Inc. hereinafter referred to as LWAC, is organized for charitable and educational purposes; as these terms are defined in section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 and is chartered under the General Not for Profit Corporation Act of 1986 of the State of Illinois (the Illinois Act). Certain of the significant provisions of the Illinois Act relative to LWAC are summarized below.

No part of the net earnings of LWAC shall inure to the benefit of, or be distributed to, its Directors, Officers, or other private persons, except that LWAC shall be authorized and empowered to pay resonable compensation for services rendered.

No substantial part of the activities of LWAC shall be the carrying on of propoganda or otherwise attempting to influence legislation and LWAC shall not participate in or intervene in (including the publishing or distribution of statements) any potential campaign on behalf of the candidate for public office.

Notwithstanding any other provision of these Bylaws, LWAC shall not carry on any other activities not permitted to be carried on (a) by a corporation exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(1)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (or the corresponding provision of any future United States Internal Revenue Law) or (b) by a corporation, contributions to which are deductible under section 170(c)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (or the corresponding provision of any future United States Internal Revenue Law.)

Our Director - Mr. Gregory Day

Greg brings 35 years of choral directing experience to LWAC. He has directed choirs at all levels, including elementary, junior high, high school and adult. Greg began his career in Sterling, Illinois and continued through his retirement two years ago from Parker Junior High in Flossmoor.

Throughout his career, Greg has directed over 500 concerts. Many of his students have continued on to make music their own career. Besides school choirs, Greg has directed church choirs over the past 30 years, including 10 years at St. Jude Church in New Lenox.

Together with his wife, Marg, he has composed 46 original and arranged over 200 choral pieces. Since retiring from teaching, Greg has been teaching private piano and voice lessons. Along with his wife and daughter Greg lives in New Lenox. When asked his thoughts about LWAC, Greg has said, " This is professionally the group I've been waiting for all of my career. I'm still up here somewhere in the clouds."

Our Accompanist

Jason is a graduate of Valparaiso University with his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music, concentrating in Piano Performance. While at Valparaiso University, he began his vocal accompanying career working as a studio accompanist for Virginia Oram. Shortly after graduating from Valparaiso, he began working as the Organist and Choral Accompanist for the First Presbyterian Church of Homewood in Homewood, IL. In the spring of 2008, Jason left First Presbyterian Church to become the Director of Music for St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Lemont, IL where he maintains his roles as accompanist and organist with the addition of choral and contemporary group direction, and administration of the music program.

Performances for Jason include organist in a Hymn Festival and Organ Concert in October 2010, and as an accompanist and organist for a Christmas Carol Festival in December of 2010 and Spring Members' Recital of the Northwest Indiana Chapter of the American Guild of Organists in March of 2011. Jason is the Dean of the Northwest Indiana Chapter of the A. G. O., and is a member of the Naperville Chapter of the Illinois State Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association. He also maintains a private studio where he teaches children and adults the joy and artistry of piano and organ performance. This is Jason's second year as accompanist for Lincoln-Way Area Chorale.
